Randomness (8 Weeks until Summer Edition)

1. Quote of the week (by Steve Williams in FourFourTwo):
Whether it’s Michael Jackson or Rio Ferdinand, if you can carry off an afro then it would be rude not to.
2. I was  reminded of this quote while listening to my favorite CD this month, The Monitor by Titus Andronicus. Now they don’t actually quote this—it’s [...]

What I Learned Today

1. I always assumed Taser was an acronym for something, but I didn’t realize the connection would be as  cool as it is. It’s named after a children’s book from 1911 called Tom Swift and His Electric Rifle. I wonder if the author would be proud to know  that some meth-head is right now [...]

The Week in Review (Past-Tense Edition)

Time for some filler. I usually get halfway finished with a post and a kid needs some juice or something. Every once in a while you need to take out the garbage. This randomness comes from last week:

What’s with Facebook fights? Everyone has to spawn their political cheap shots and I’d can’t avoid pointing out [...]

Weekly Annoyances

Sometimes the only way to make it through a week is to think about everything that’s getting in your way. So here are the things annoying me this week:

Public Flossing. Since when did dental hygiene become so precious that it’s okay to walk down the hall and flick enamel at those around you? First I [...]

Back in the Habit (Random Musings: Winter Edition)

Randomness to get me back in the mood…
1. Visited Bass Pro Shops on Saturday. Weird in part because I spent a lot of time there when I lived in Springfield. Since the world headquarters is located there, I purchased much of my early discount camping equipment from the outlet center. (Thanks to everyone who returned [...]

Scraps

Every once in a while I have to clear out the scraps of half-digested almost-posts that I have collected. Usually I read something interesting, e-mail it to myself, start a post, and then lose interest.  So here are a few that qualify as too good to lose yet not worthy of a full post:
1. I [...]

Randomness (Vol. XI)

Point 1:
Great small article in USA Today about fuel-efficiency gauges in non-hybrid cars. As the owner of a 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid, I can say that I get 20% better mileage on any car I drive because of the fuel efficiency information on my Hybrid. The Hybrid taught me how to drive efficiently. In many [...]

More Missing Monkeys

You may see this one hanging all over Columbia Montessori School. Don’t worry, it’s not the violent child-biting monkey last seen in Stephens Lake Park. This is a peaceful monkey (as shown by his tasteful and relaxed Hawaiian shirt).
He probably smells like banana, saliva, dirt, and a touch of urine (like most of my house).

Obsession with Dog Obsession

Here’s another in my long line of “I’m shocked that people treat a dog like a human” posts. This post was prompted by my noticing a line of ice cream sandwiches designed especially for dogs. This occurred during my bi-weekly trip to Schnucks Market. I mentioned it to Molly and she appeared less than [...]
